CHASING BEAUTIFUL SKIES (My Gratitude Journal)
Free Pizza and Pasta

And free soda too.

Actually, that was yesterday. But I realized that I hadn’t updated this gratitude journal for eons and those were the first things that came to mind.  Food, what did you expect!?!

Since spreading gratitude — and infecting others to be grateful too — is one of my chosen purposes in life now (wow, how profound can this get, just kidding, but yes, it’s indeed so much better than pursuing despicable schemes), I’m thankful for these lately…

And because I’m being lazy again, I’ll “bulletize” some stuff (and oh is there such a word…LOL):

  • Free Pizza, Pasta and Soda — I know, I just had to rub it in.
  • Finally getting a copy of “Ilustrado” by Miguel Syjuco and liking it so far. I’ve read 14% of it, according to the location bar of my Kindle. I’ve made it past the prologue the information-intensive content of which triggered an attention-deficit attack. Beautifully woven nonetheless.  It’s just me and my inherent inability to focus well (I’m serious, sometimes I even drift away from conversations). Now where was I before I have rudely interrupted myself? Ah, Syjuco. Modern day Jose Rizal comes to mind.  Not quite. Not even almost. But kind of. It’s just a thought. I may be wrong.  I need to get to the remaining 86% first. If you’re a Filipino (especially if you’ve migrated somewhere else like moi), or if you’re married to one or if you have a little Philippine connection or fondness by some twist in your life, this book will be an intriguing read. I particularly like the acerbic shots sprayed all over it, and the wry sense of humor leaves me smiling perhaps because I’m Filipino and I “get it”. But like I said, I’m speaking for the first 14% at this point.
  • A long and happy phone conversation with my mom last night.  Their Vonage line was off because of the power outage from the Philippine typhoon, but I discovered some minutes in my phone card that enabled me to surprise her with a call. It was a nice and light conversation. As if we were just sitting on the table across each other after work, over a merienda of Reno liverspread, pan de sal and Tang. I was actually folding some laundry as we spoke.

        Ergo……………………

  • ZERO backlog on laundry. As in zilch, nil, nada…Empty hampers! Are you jealous yet?
  • Waking up with the celphone frame imprinted on my right cheek. I think I can still see the indentation as I write this. I’m thankful because it scared me with horrible thoughts of radioactive particles whizzing invisibly in and out of my skull as I slept. Ew! Scared me big time. That should push me to rest the phone on my night stand before I sleep next time. And avoid making that last minute FB check as I hung on to the last threads of consciousness.
  • A nice dream, yes, that I was bronzed tan and all that.
  • The stray quarter I found in the pocket of my purse where old receipts and lotto scratchers lay.  The quarter that has been sitting like a queen amongst dimes and nickels on my candy dish for a while now has finally found its soulmate, and thus a purpose!

I can now buy a 50-cent snack from the office vending machine before my afternoon coffee break ends and after I save this post.

Grazie a Dio!
