I have been able to log into this gratitude journal every 4…5…6(?) days on average. I guess that’s how it’s going to be from now on, unless I can afford the luxury of free time once again. Better than being idle, I must say. An idle mind is the devil’s workshop, so goes the oft-repeated cliche. Ahh free time! When it does materialize — it pops up like a random bubble, I’d rather find myself spending it cuddling with the hubs or watching our favorite TV shows, vegetating together than having my nose glued to the screen of my laptop, or the iPhone poking out of my hand like an extra limb while typing away blurbs for each divinely orchestrated beautiful day. Better to feel it than say it. I can’t be a radio anchor narrating every experience as it happens. Sometimes, you end up losing the moment.

We had a long Saturday supporting my stepdaughter on the WGI Colorguard Regionals in Union City. I had a blast with family and friends who came to give their support. Special mention goes to Uncle Bobby (Aldred was really happy to have a “Grandpa” image watching Alyssa since his bio-pop had already passed away before he saw the granddaughter’s performances), then Meng-meng and Issa who responded to my invite in FB (such sponteneity, you guys rock!!!); Mike, Mye and the boys (ALWAYS THERE FOR US, ALWAYS ALWAYS!), Anabelle and Andrew. The hubs and I plus Jennifer (AJ’s mom) are truly grateful!!! A lot of thanks also go out to those who tried to make it but couldn’t because they were sick. Hope you guys are feeling better now. The girls won 7th place out of 9 contenders in their division. They actually pulled off a great show. I also believe that it is a milestone to be called back for the finals, considering that they didn’t make the cut last year. I’m so proud!
Sunday…what Sunday? I seriously thought that the week short-circuited on me again with Saturday morphing straight into Monday. We were knocked unconscious finally caught up on some sleep on Sunday afternoon after errands and church. Does that count as free time? Maybe not. More like just a recoup for some lost Zzzs. Too hungry to sleep, yet too sleepy to eat. Yeah! But thank God for this opportunity. We woke up recharged in time for the Oscars.
The rest of the week went by on NASCAR speed. Monday - It had gotten too cold for me to walk outside during my lunch break but I’m happy because I was able to finish a free book on my Kindle. Can’t tell you what it is, it’s too juvenile, har har!!! Tuesday, we were taken out to dinner at Sushi House. Thanks, Roy and Penn!!! Wednesday, it was kind of uneventful but what do you say…Criminal Minds was on and I was also able to conquer a sickeningly massive amount of paperwork! Thursday…yesterday…the doctor at work who I thought and suspected didn’t like me anymore as a co-worker (since he practically stopped asking me questions or challenging me with info and stuff like that) dropped by my cube to ask if I wanted half of his orange (certainly not one of those challenging questions). It seemed like a leftover of his fruit snack, neatly cut into quarters. Don’t get me wrong, my being needy of his attention is far from personal. Oh hello! Somehow, this doctor-slash-researcher-father image-slash-Einstein’s attention equates to his belief in one’s ability to handle highly cerebral thingamajigs. Which happens to be part and parcel of my job. Or at least that’s how I see it. Ergo, it’s all job-security-related, nothing else. Thank God I have one to hang on to during this recession age. Even if that means eating someone else’s left-over oranges?
(Someone who I heard from the gravevine was out sick for around 4 days battling some kind of virus —which is too funny because we’d think that doctors aren’t supposed to be sick because they are the mothers of virus exterminators — and thus that explains his sudden propensity for snacking on citrus fruits).
No way.
I’m not a catostomid cypriniform like that.
