JAN 30-31 WEEKEND
The weekend didn’t really leave me all that rundown despite making two 7-hr trips in a row as it usually does everytime we travel. I have just been totally lazy the past days that I didn’t even want to spare a minute for my gratitude journal even if I have so much to say. Anyhoozens…I’ll cut myself some slack since this is my journal and I make the rules! I’m writing...
JAN 29 Friday - A REASON, A SEASON, A LIFETIME
My heart was still reveling in the joyous moment of finding Eve and Caroline on Facebook when another pleasant surprise came escorted by a soft digital beep on my phone which I’m now slowly getting used to. You see, I just recently downloaded the Yahoo messenger app on my iPhone for the sole purpose of being able to chat with my mom whose online presence continues to spread as her newly...
JAN 28 - Thursday
I can’t begin to tell you how happy I am. If there is one good thing that Facebook has done for me personally, I will say that it happened today. I was reunited with two special girls in my life. Two students who tried me out of my wits as a teacher some years ago, but gave me the best feelings at the end of each class day. Two girls who touched me in so many ways you can never imagine...
JAN 25 - MONDAY
Karma. It’s such a strong truth (aren’t all truths strong?) that I believe in. Not exactly in the line of punishment or retribution but simply as an “extended expression or consequence of natural acts.” From what I picked up in Wikipedia: “Karma means deed or act and more broadly names the universal principle of cause and effect, action and reaction that governs all life.
What goes around comes...
Jan 23 - SATURDAY
Oh we’ve pretty much accomplished 100%……..of nothing. Hubby insisted on sleeping in or at least pretending to, even if my mind was racing and already doing imagined chores while I laid down watching TV. Glad that the pace slowly quieted me down for a while even if it left me needing to catch up on laundry late into the night. We went to a kid’s birthday party at Pump It Up...
Jan 22 - FRIDAY
Just glad the skies finally cleared up. And that it’s Friday and I’m hoping I can finally sleep in and realize the bed weather trance-like dream I’ve wrestled with all throughout the work week. But Saturday brings the promise of sunshine and the prospect of sleeping in is highly likely going to be an epic fail. Let’s see. Meanwhile, TGIF! Don’t forget to reward...

~ A cousin’s grandma’s memorial service — a celebration of life.
~ Fun and yummy dinner at IHOP with cuzzos (shouldn’t it be called “iHop” at this day and age?). Anyhoo, thanks mucho, Jimmie. Half of my Chicken Florentine crepes is tomorrow’s lunch at work.
~ Hubby forgiving me when I did something crazy earlier today. (well, not that...
Jan 19 and 20
It’s been raining hard. Some bed weather we got here! But for two mornings, I’ve been dragging myself out of the bed and out of the house, and driving under heavy grey skies and pouring rain, walking into cold puddles and strutting to work like a little wet chick (not the sexy kind).
What is here to thank for in the past two days?
A great conversation with my mom last night, being...
Jan 18 - Mom on FB
My mom learning the ropes of Facebook = PRICELESS
Jan 16 - "Bayang Magiliw"
The 16th of January has always been significant in my childhood. It meant the Town Fiesta. It meant food and family and friends and tons of fun.
Today, I celebrated my 4th one that’s entirely different from the fiestas I’ve known. Close, but not quite. But I’m thankful that even if I’m miles away, I am able to enjoy the day as – by habit and tradition – I should.
I am thankful for the chance to...
Jan 15 - Tuyo-silog
It’s 12:26 am, officially January 16th but I’m still up because my stomach feels like a stretched out bag of rocks. My digestive mechanism is on overdrive. Alas! One intense burp escapes. Sorry to be graphic about that. I can’t help it. I have just been transported and granted a quick visit to home sweet home Philippines with hubby. Magic, you say? I say…plate of...
JAN 12 & 13
I’m supposed to post daily updates but yesterday was mundane and uneventful. But here comes the purpose of tomorrows. Because my yesterday’s tomorrow is TODAY, and today is the bomb!
Hubby and I took a day off fom work and trooped to the city. Don’t get me wrong, we weren’t trying to play hookie. We had legitimate errands at the Philippine Consulate which we could...
Jan 11
Just spent half an hour visiting Facebook profiles silently (read: “snooping around” haha). I’m very content knowing that some of my friends and family are happy with some newfound twists in their lives — bouncing bundles of joy, celebrations, travels and eats. Rekindled loves and the rediscovery of joyful togetherness most especially. Thank you. I’m glad things are...
Jan 8, 9, 10
I’m sorry that I didn’t get to update this supposedly “everyday” gratitude journal for the past 3 days. No, I didn’t get abducted by alien life forms. I’ve been captured by a little baby girl named Bella Olivia who we visited yesterday. And then I have been held hostage on the bed by cold symptoms that possessed a severe case of identity crisis — like will...
Jan 7 - Hitting the sack early.
Aside from getting my Kindle today (I kept an eye for the UPS truck like a kid waiting for the ice cream truck), I am very very thankful for my job/s. Today is not the first time at work that I witnessed someone lose hers. She worked in the cube next to me. I heard the HR come by to ask if they could talk inside her office. Just by the sound of it, I already knew what was coming. I don’t...
Jan 6 - Sleep-deprived...
And too tired to think of what to be grateful for today. Uhm, will boss-on-vaycay count? Surely!
It’s been a rough yet very happy week. I didn’t see my sister and Baby Bella today. Gotta catch up on some zzzZzzs now.
Toodles!
Jan 2
I woke up to a breakfast of Mexican Tamales (nuked from frozen actually c/o hubby’s co-worker) Thanks, Jesus — yup that’s his name!!! And I cooked bacon for hubby.
Then we went out for our New Year haircuts… Hubby at his ol’ reliable almost drive-thru Super Cuts and me at my favorite posh iSalon in Alameda. I love the fab cut, Desi!!!
Then, Hubby brought me to...
Jan 1
Indian buffet and “Criminal Minds” marathon all day. That’s it, nothing else on the first day of 2010. Perfect way to start the year. No stress…very peaceful.
I really have a feeling that it’s gonna be a good year!
CHEERS to what the future holds!
It WILL be a good year.
