D23 - Days Before New Year's Eve
Two days to go and I’m feeling a little blue. Don’t get me wrong! I’m excited for the coming year. But I think I’m having a little separation anxiety with 2009. Not that I’m not willing to move on. There are just some unfinished business which I feel should have been drawn to a close in 2009 at least and never to be carried through the coming of the new year....

Day 21 - Back to Reality
I won! I won! Before I drifted off to deep REM last night, I promised myself that I wouldn’t be calling in sick Monday. Because let’s put it this way, come hell or high water, I want to remain in the good guys list at work. Just need to be practical these days. And lo and behold, I woke up feeling so refreshed and painless as if nothing happened the night before. I WON!!! It’s...

Day 20 - Sicky sick
Okay, so I woke up with a little pain in my throat (or tonsils?) I’m 37 and kind of educated and still can’t tell the difference, hahaha. Blame it on the throat…er, urhm, or tonsils. Just kidding. But I know how this works.  First comes painful swallowing, then (or with) runny nose, then fever, then bed for what seems like forever, then resurrection! We had fun after BJ’s...

Day 19 - Mommy
Day after Christmas is always a special day because it’s my mom’s birthday. So this is a perfect time to thank God for sending such an amazing, wonderful, generous, strong and loving woman to the world and for picking her to be my mother! And I’m very grateful for life that she’s blessed with so much strength and will beyond compare in order to keep living, loving and...

Day 18 - Christmas
Food. Family. Friends. Fun. I can’t even decide on the order. They all rank first! But I  had to mention the food first, of course.  I’m grateful for all these.  And lazy to go through all the details. I just can’t break my joy into tiny pieces. It’s like I just swallowed one whole serving of happiness in a gargantuan proportion — beginning Christmas...

Day 17 - Christmas Eve
Officially off work on this day! I wanted to sleep in but all the fuss over the details of hosting Christmas Eve got the better of me and so I was up at 6am. Plus, I wanted to make good my promise to hubby that I’d be up the moment he rises from bed to go to work. I made use of the early quiet morning to call my parents and wish them Merry Christmas since they are celebrating Christmas ahead...

Day 16 - Day before Christmas Eve
Or so I think. I’ve lost track of the days. All I know is that I had been unable to update this Gratitude Journal since the mad rush — which I promised myself not to stick my head into in the first place. Nonetheless, I’m thankful for this Wednesday because of one major thing - I was able to scratch off everything in my shopping list including those hard-to-find-presents-for...

Day 15 - Holiday Rush...and the un...
I was thinking about it on my way to work. This holiday season isn’t really as stressful and nerve-wracking as it had been for me the past recent years. Is it really less stressful? Or is it…as my dad told me once, that whenever I find myself treating every little difficult thing with ease, it’s not life getting easier, it is me that’s changing, evolving to a higher form and finally adapting....

Day 14 - Corned Beef
I finally caught up!!! I’ve been busy but grateful for a good day at work. What I’m most thankful for? The corned beef for dinner!!! Truly a life saver at this busy time!!! No special home-cooked meals for now, til Christmas eve perhaps. Just keeping the stress low, and succeeding at it!

Day 13 - A Day in the City
Obviously I’m trying to catch up so I’m posting this as Sunday’s entry. After the 10:30am mass at St. Felicitas, hubby and I went back home to eat some dimsum, then we rested for a bit watching a 2009 wrap-up on E! Then off we went to take the BART going to the city. It’s like an unspoken tradition with us each Christmas season. We would usually go around Union Square,...

Day 12 - Baby Stuff
Some free time, at last! I am posting this 2 days late because Saturday was full of accomplishments, sisterly bonding, and food trips. A lot of things to thank God for. My sister and I were able to get ahead with the nursery project for her soon-to-arrive baby — due on the 4th of January.  We were able to wash the new clothes, sort all presents she received from the different showers...

Day 9 - It's my birthday!
I don’t even know where to start. I’m grateful for everything that transpired during the day. From the moment I opened my eyes when hubby was leaving for work to the time I started doing this journal which is the last few minutes of my special day.  Here are the goodies in between: an early phone call from my nephew Elwin to wish me happy birthday (this isn’t the first time that he’s...

Day 8 - Christmas Shopping (Part Deux)
If you still don’t believe that heaven answers prayers, then can you explain why on my last three trips to the post office, the rude lady behind the middle counter who I always try to avoid — and seriously hope and pray that my turn doesn’t fall on her lap — hasn’t been there. And those weren’t consecutive days!  Pure luck, perhaps? As if by some cosmic...

D7 - Tired
I realize how difficult it is to be thankful when your mind and body are occupied with a million pesky distractions. Like this stiff neck for instance!!! I was pain-free for a while until one lazy night when I fell asleep while reading again, with my silly head lodged on sixty million pillows on an angle that only russian contortionists trained since birth can muster. When will I ever learn? ...

Day 6 - Church, Wonton soup, Ikea and BBQ
What do they have in common? Me! On a Sunday! Today! After church, hubby and I decided to pick up some dimsum down the street from our house and we were so happy to find out that they sell wonton soup too. Where have we been??? We’ve lived in the area for a little more than a year, we’re wonton people and we were clueless that wonton was a stone’s throw away from our little red...

Day 5 - Carlo
Day 5 was supposedly yesterday but forgive me for being able to post only a photo of the the remaining 12% of my ham, egg and cheese muffin, a Clementine and a lemon. As much as I like to write everyday, I also don’t want to lose some nice moments in my free time like cuddling with hubby on a cold and rainy Saturday morning instead — which by the way qualifies as one of the things to...

Day 4 - CHRISTMAS SPIRIT
Oh, this Gratitude Journal. I’m only on Day 4 and there isn’t much yet. But it’s amazing how by having a Gratitude Journal, you wake up in the morning and start your day already expecting good things to happen. It’s like you’re launched into the day with a mission to spot and recognize what’s good, no matter how stressful some days could be. With last night’s Christmas shopping, I am thankful...

Day 3 - Christmas Shopping
I’m so tired! I got home really late after hours of shopping for Christmas presents, driving in the rain and nursing a growling stomach. But I’m on Day 3 of this gratitude thingy (I didn’t mean to count — and I didn’t mean to say “thingy” but my brain is shutting down and I’m developing some shopping-induced aphasia), and where was I before I have rudely interrupted myself? Oh yes, Day 3. I mean,...

Day 2
I’m back! Did you see that can of La Croix? I’m thankful for a few more things today: The coupon for Daphne’s (Greek food) which hubby and I finally used. I’ve been wanting to try it. It was…okay, can’t think of anything enthusing to say about it. But this isn’t a food blog hahaha. I’m happy though. I told hub that I was going shopping at South...

PROJECT TY-365
This is my daily “thank you” project. I’m happy to launch it today, Dec. 8th.  Feast of the Immaculate Conception…a very special day for me, and most of us.  I hope to be able to continue putting in my daily gratitude entries for 365 days and onward. Meanwhile, allow me to be thankful for all the people who surround me with love. It’s amazing how people go out of their ways to make others happy....
